Communications for distributed teams

Florian Haas, VP of Education

Florian Haas, our VP of Education, is one of several thought leaders at City Network.

He and his team are meticulously building and running training courses to help people learn, use, understand, and deploy complex and distributed technology.

Their long term mission is to close the skills gap in the IT industry with a specific aim at distributed technology.

Distribution is a recurring theme with Florian, whether it be technology, development or teams. The latter is an area of particular interest for him, and he is a keen advocate for better communications in distributed teams.

Florian frequently attends and speaks about these topics at various events across the globe. Most recently he spoke at DevOps Days in Tel Aviv.

The recordings from his talks were recently made available and today we wanted to share them with you.

No really, don’t chuck everything in Slack: Communications for distributed teams

The first is a 40-minute talk that he gave after the keynotes on day 2 of the event. It deals with the specific challenges that distributed teams face and solve. Florian shares a number of ready-to-go suggestions to communicate better as a distributed team.

Five is Fine: A case for small teams

The second is 5-minute talk delivered as part of a round of Ignite talks. The premise is basically to deliver your talk in 5 minutes.
